We are always excited to consider talented applicants interested in joining the lab! We welcome inquiries from all potential Undergraduate Students, Master and Ph.D. Students, Postdocs., Research Engineer, and Research Scientist positions.

Below is information on how to apply to each position in the lab.
FULL-TIME PH.D. STUDENTS (open to non-Chinese only due to the nationality cap limit)
Have fixed deadlines annually, plan early. Admission to phd programs is PI-based at our school. If you are interested in applying for a PhD position with our lab, please email me directly to arrange a separate interview. Simply submitting an application through the central PhD student pool will not be considered, as I do not review those submissions.

The application for PhD programs starting from August AY26/27 is now open:
There are multiple Ph.D. scholarships available in the lab. Students will obtain Ph.D. degree from College of Computing and Data Science, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.
Students must be willing to work on multi-disciplinary research projects at the intersection of computational neuroscience and AI. This includes designing human behavioral experiments and collecting human responses, alongside developing computational models of cognitive functions (visual attention, eye movements, visual perception, memory, context reasoning, and multi-agent decision making). Check out our publication site for representative works. Email me your CV and research statement if you are interested.

PART-TIME PH.D. STUDENTS

We do have full-time research engineer jobs to support your salary (monthly: 6000 sgd due to funding limit) if you are willing to take part-time phd positions in our lab. The part-time phd students are not bound by the nationality cap limit. In other words, if you are a Chinese citizen, you are eligible for this phd scheme. In NTU, the part-time phd is exactly the same as the full-time phd student in terms of graduation requirements and timelines. There is no difference except for the funding source. One is supported by the Ministry of Education, while the part-time phd gets the stipend from PI's own grant money. All phd students (regardless of whether it is part-time or full-time) will receive the same degree paper. You will be treated as a full time phd student to work on research projects, just like other full-time phd students. In this case, you are not obliged to work in Singapore after graduation. The caveat is that you have to pay non-subsidized tuition fee every year:

EXCHANGE PH.D. STUDENTS

Our lab welcomes self-funded exchange PhD students (such as CSC scholars from China).
Our lab might be able to fund exceptional PhD students from overseas universities for exchange programs (minimum duration: 12 months). If you are interested, please email me your CV and research statement. Also indicate your top three choices of research areas you want to work on, the duration of the internship, and the starting date.

In the past, several outstanding CSC scholars from China have worked in our lab and successfully published first-authored papers at top-tier AI conferences. Two representative examples are listed below. Please ensure that your PhD advisor has agreed to your participation in projects in our lab before you arrive.

-
Bo Wang (PhD student, Harbin Institute of Technology) published his work on hybrid visual foraging at CVPR 2025.
-
Zhengquan Zhang (PhD student, Fudan University) published his work on active view sampling for 3D vision at ICLR 2026.
Excellent CSC scholars may be invited back to work as postdocs in our lab.
